The Road Less Traveled

Hello Flock Together readers, happy Friday!
Hannah here from The Braided Bandit and I am so excited to share with you one of my very favorite dresses from the swap so far!  The dress is the trifecta of perfect fall colors, velvety soft material, and a beautiful print, so its no wonder so many ladies want to borrow it from Marisa!  This also may be a new favorite photo spot for me- its sometimes difficult to find a spot that is outdoors and picturesque yet private enough.  The little "no trespassing private road" sign I quietly trudged past to get these quickly solved that problem though!

Outfit Details: Dress - swap from Marisa // Blouse - thrifted // Shoes - vintage // Necklace - Romwe // Tights - Target
When I was first thinking of how I was going to style this, I definitely had only neutrals in mind.  But then I thought about whose dress it was (Marisa's), and thought, why not add a bit more color! She is seriously the queen of color mixing and is a very inspiring gal!
This is how Rachel and Marisa styled the dress, I seriously love both of their versions so much!  I also really like that all three of us chose to stand in front of trees for the pictures, I am pretty sure that was not planned at all.  You can see Rachel's original post here, and Marisa's here!

Anyway, I hope you all have fun weekends planned! It is my birthday on Sunday so I will hopefully be celebrating all weekend! I have already Birthday-fied a feather crown to wear out on the town and am looking forward to a special birthday dinner and drinks on Saturday and a relaxing day on Sunday. What is your version of a perfect birthday? I'd love to hear! Thanks for reading!

East vs. West

socal3
Hello! Jessica from Midwest Muse. It's no secret that I'm in love with Ashely's style. Her style is everything I want mine to evolve into: classy, put together, colorful, and surprising. Having the chance to style her clothes is truly an honor.

This was my very first swapped piece and it was a surprise item. How incredibly perfect is this skirt? It's silky. Has pockets and it has a thousand color options. This skirt could be worn a million different ways.

Ashley totally surprised me with the leopard print shoes and it works so incredibly well. In the past, I've been way too "matchy-matchy" with my colors and I'm trying to steer away from over doing the same colors. I love how this skirt gave me the ability to be colorful, but with a multiple shades. Total win.

Locally Swapped

Hi everyone!  Ashley of Southern (California) Belle here!  I'm back for another swap, this one from Erica over at Sweets & Hearts.  What I didn't realize until after she joined the group was that she lives in my hometown (which is a quick twenty minutes away)!  It was nice to meet my fellow Flock Together member in person and I love the idea of swapping in real life.  And who could blame me, her closet is filled with amazing pieces!

This pleated striped dress was on the top of my list.  I love the colors and I was really excited to bring in some more texture with a braided gold belt and leopard wedges.  Since it is fall season in LA (kind of) I added some tights as well.  What do you think?

Fall Florals

Hi everyone! Rachel from Floral Prints and Common Sense here!
When I got this swap from Marisa, I could hardly wait to wear it. It's velvet and floral and vintage and everything a girl could want! It's kindof the perfect floral for autumn, and even though the leaves had just started to turn when I wore it, it was perfectly chilly.
I wore it with a cozy beret and some bright red heels, and missed it as soon as I sent it back!
 details:
yellow shirt: handmade by me
tights: diy gone slightly awry
shoes: thrifted
necklace: vintage
Here's how the lovely Marisa wore it!

The Vintage Guide to Popping Your Collar

Hello all! Katie from Butterfly Loves Snapdragons here to show off one of Elana's stunning blouses.

Are you all coming down from your turkey high yet? Or maybe your family doesn't eat turkey. I thought it was so weird when I found out that my husband's family eats ham on Thanksgiving, what is up with that? ;)

Ah, well on to the outfit:
Let's just say I LOVED everything about this blouse. It has a huge, glorious collar, it is sleeveless, and can we all be honest in saying that it is the most perfect color? Not to mention the fact that it is a nice, silky material that layers very well. You should be hearing birds sing and seeing flowers bloom all around you right about now. It really is that awesome :)
I think that a versatile, collared blouse should be a staple for every woman's wardrobe. You can wear it alone with a pair of jeans, tuck it into high waisted skirts and shorts, or layer it under (and over) dresses. The possibilities really are endless!

I wanted to throw a lot of color into this palette so I wore my favorite newly found dress and my grandmother's double breasted wool cardigan. It was perfect for a day out with the hubby doing a bit of shopping!
Of course I had to throw in a vintage dragonfly hairpin to complete the look. Also, I must admit to you that I throw these boots on with pretty much everything I wear. They are just the perfect contrast to any sweet little dress!

Here is how the ever adorable Elana styled this gem (can we all agree she has the cutest smile EVER?) :

You can see the full original post here. I seriously want her amazing high-waisted shorts!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead. Do all of you have a favorite blouse you love to wear over and over?

God Bless,
KJA

Up Up and Away

I was so excited to see that this dress belonged to Jessica and was available for swapping! I've been obsessed with it ever since I saw it on ModCloth and asked to borrow it right away. The bright primary colors and stripes reminded me of Parisian hot air balloons, so I added a whimsical balloon necklace. I played up the neutrals with a cream cardigan (it has bows on the back!) and heather gray socks.

Outfit Details:
Rainbow striped "Feelin' Refreshed" dress (Jessica's // Minuet via ModCloth // available here)
Skinny brown belt (Forever 21)
Cream bow back cardigan (Tommy Girl)
Heather gray thigh high socks (Forever 21)
Black patent ruffle "Daniella" loafers (c/o Pink and Pepper)
Brass hot air balloon necklace (Forever 21)
Teal heart earrings (Vintage via I'm Your Present)

You can see how Jessica and Ashley styled this dress here:

The dress is now on its way to the next girl (it's quite popular), so you'll see it pop up on the blog again soon, I'm sure.

Now I know it's Black Friday, so you probably have some shopping you need to do. Have fun and don't get too crazy! Besides, there's always Cyber Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, it's Hannah from The Braided Bandit here to wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings! I hope you all are currently wearing dresses with elastic waists and eating multiple servings of pie! That's definitely my plan...
Outfit Details: Skirt- Borrowed from Elana // Shoes & Top: thrifted // Necklace: gift

I borrowed this skirt from Elana of Room 334 over a month ago when Colorado was still full of changing fall foliage, which has since all but disappeared.  The sad bare trees will soon be adorned with twinkling lights though and all will be well again! This was actually my first Flock Together swap item and I could not have been happier with it.  It has a beautiful mustard color and is perfect for any season, not to mention the Thanksgiving-approved elastic waistband!  Here are two adorable ways Elana styled the skirt during the warmer months! (She's the cutest!)

Anyway, I won't keep you guys long because I am sure you have better things to do today with friends and family.  I just want to say that I am very thankful for the amazing ladies I have met through Flock Together! Not only is it fun to swap clothes with them, it also has been an awesome experience actually getting to know each and every one of them better.  Such a beautiful and supportive group of gals (and guys), readers included!  Have a wonderful day!
