Playing Dress Up

Why hello, this is Katie of Butterfly Love Snapdragons! I am currently sitting on the couch watching as somewhat of a blizzard takes place outside. Good thing I can cozy up with hot chocolate and pictures to edit! Are any of you getting snowed in where you are?
This is a dress I swapped with the gorgeous Jessi of Haircut and General Attitude. It really is a fantastic piece and was oh so fun to style! I decided it was the perfect time to try my hand at milkmaid braids and I quite liked the result. I also had fun mixing some of my favorite colors. In my closet there is not a single color that doesn't work with sea foam green. I will literally pair it with every color from plum to red and everything in between.

I love fur stoles with anything in the wintertime. They are so cozy and something special to any little dress or blazer. They need to be vintage for me to buy them though!
I find that with the pieces I swap from the other girls I tend to play dress up a bit more and come out with a slightly different style than would normally come from my own closet. I can be more playful and channel that girl's style a bit. I have to get in character, let's say. I always loved that role in my theatre experience. Helping to choose wardrobe items for different characters to wear on stage was just so fun for me. Now I do that in my daily life too-what do I want to be today: a housewife, a 40's secretary, a brash prairie woman (I am a South Dakotan you know.)?
Endless, wonderful possibilities!

And here is how the lovely owner, Jessi, as well as Elana from Room 334 styled this beauty! I absolutely love how they styled it,  the dress looks gorgeous on both of them.

I hope you get to do something this week that makes you feel like a kid again. Whether it is an impromptu snowball fight, licking the spoon when you're making cookies, or just watching a nostalgic movie-it's the perfect time of year to let yourself have a bit of fun.
God Bless!
KJA

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

  8. Haha my pic is so old and over-edited. Oh well :) Katie you wore my own dress better than me! I'm seriously in love with what you came up with! The colors are amazing! Now I have more ideas of what to wear it with!

  9. Those milkmaid braids are so cute! And I would have never thought of seaform green, yet now I want a blazer like that to pair with everything. It looks so good.

Interesting what you say about channelling styles. The swapped items definitely make me feel more playful and daring with clothing too and watching the different girls styling things is so inspiring too! All three of you, for example, look so fun!

  10. Katie you look so cute in Jessi's dress! I love the fur stole you added. I've been loking for one for months, I just can't find the right one. And I totally agree with you, I think this group and our swaps has me constantly thinking outside the box. We can get comfortable in our styles, it's nice to shake it up a bit <3
