The Traveling Fox

Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles
Hello there :)

It's been a wee bit, but I'm back with today serving up part remix part swap and as always, plenty of color.  This little fox number of mine surely has traveled up and down the coast and across the country making it's way to many of the gals here at Flock Together.  Though I'll be forever drawn to quirky-cute critter-ridden pieces like this, it's often that I think that they are not super versatile - this one especially with it's smack-you-in-the-face bright 80s inspired teal/magenta color scheme.

Looks like I've been proven wrong though.  It's always kind of blows my mind when I see how the gals remix one piece so many different ways from one person to the next.  Talk about new options.

As for me, this time around (which was back in the fall, btw), I paired it with Taylor's black accordion skirt.  Being that I was cooped in a car traveling to Philly for the weekend, I was in the mood for something fairly simple and uber comfortable.  After all, long car rides always call for loose fitting pieces and minimal layers in my book.

Check how all these Flock Together gals past and present (including myself) remixed this piece:

Black Cat

Hello, hello and Happiest Halloween!

Marisa here, popping in on the blog today to bring you a another remix of Elana's black cat dress - because, you know cats and Halloween kind of go hand in hand, right?

Anyhow, this kitty-faced frock has certainly made it's way around the group - isn't it true that us bloggers just love anything that has a cat on it?  You bet we do!  So here I am today (with my little man in hand) remixing this piece with one of my bright floral dresses underneath.  I'm a sucker for mixing prints and layering these kinds of dresses, so I kind of just went for it.  Nuff said.  As for Halloween, my wee fam went trick-or-treating last night.  Lots of candy, lots of fun - one big sugar high.  Yep, I'm about to crash -so I'll leave you with just that.

Clockwise: Elana / Jessica / Ashley / Me-1st Remix / Amy

Have one spooktastic day darlings!

Under the Umbrella Tree...

Hey all! Jana, from Small Town, Big Smile! here today styling up this adorable dress from Elana.  I thought it was the perfectly appropriate autumn dress, seeing as we get quite a bit of rain here! I couldn't wait to pair it with a floppy hat and my hunter wellies!

When this dress came in, I was so pleasantly surprised! I hadn't noticed the v-neck front, so how I intended to style it didn't pan out (with a lace blouse under it)... My next option was to wear a red and white striped peter pan collared shirt over top, and just have the dress-as-a-skirt, but Marisa had a similar style (see below). However, sometimes it's fun to be simple and just accent the dress with a cardigan and tights or socks. So that's what I opted for.

I'm not sure if any of you remember where my post-title came from, but it was all I could think of when I was trying to think of a title with "umbrella"... I swear my brain was blocked from any other possibilities. Does that happen to anyone else??

Le Tour de Flock

Lisa from Lala Faux Bois

I'm here with another remix of Marisa's fun bicycle print dress. This dress has been on it's own version of the Tour de France, pedaling it's way around the US for us Flock Together gals to put our own spin on. But with a print this good, it's bound to make it's way around, and hopefully Marisa didn't miss it too much this summer!

It's just now becoming comfortable bicycle weather in Phoenix, and when I borrowed this back in August it was definitely a little hot for a ride around the neighborhood. But when your bike matches the dress, you dig deep for your inner athlete, no matter how far that side may be buried :)

I love how cute it looks with the denim jacket on Elana, and with the boater hat on Marisa and Sammi! So far we've all had a summery twist on this dress, I look forward to seeing what comes of it this winter. Thanks for letting your dress traverse the nation this summer, Marisa!

Quirky Girl

Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles

Hello darlings!

A wee while back on a very humid day, I ventured out for some coffee and thrifting with my boys - which by the way is a normal Friday for us.  Thanks to the lovely Amy Loo, this is the dress I wore.  Of course, as with any 60s mod-inspired frock, I was initially compelled to style it with a pair of white knee-highs and Mary Janes...which would have been totally cute, right?  However as I was chasing two kids around on this horrifically hot afternoon - function (aka leggings and flats) over fashion prevailed and well, a quirky girl outfit was born.  Now grab me my ukelele and the look will be complete.  ;-)

Gah, Amy's styled this dress to perfection, don't you think?

That's all for now my friends, it's Friday and that thrift store and cup of coffee beckon.

Until next time...love bunches,

Hot Wheels

Why, hello there. It's Elana from Room 334 here today, and I'm sharing my deep, deep love of Marisa's bicycle dress with you. You know those pieces that you lust after to the point of obsession, but just never end up buying? That's this dress for me. How could it not be? I fell in love with it the moment all of my favorite stores started stocking it and I noticed that there were puppies sitting in the baskets of some of the bicycles in the print. It's basically perfect. Unfortunately, the stars have never aligned (and by that, I mean that I've never been able to justify the purchase), and I've never been able to make the dress mine. Instead, I got to borrow it from the lovely Marisa and see how even more perfect it is for a limited amount of time. Seriously, you guys, it's perfect. The print, the silhouette, the...everything.

I wore it a couple weeks ago when my brother was in town visiting to see my other brother's new baby and then to get gelato and drinks with a couple of our friends. It was a pretty relaxed day, so I went pretty casual with a denim jacket (that it was probably too warm to be wearing) and some oxfords. I'm a little sad because I took these photos on a different day from when I originally wore this, and I couldn't find the necklace that I had I worn with it. It was a plane necklace, and I thought I was being pretty funny (as usual) by wearing a plane necklace with a bicycle dress. Get it?

Obviously, both Marisa and Sammi look ridiculously adorable in the dress. But no one is surprised by that.

Well, that's all I have for you today. Hope to see you over on my blog for the outfit details and talk about how much I love junk food and TV. It's really all you've ever wanted out of a fashion blog.
