Group Round Up: New Year's Resolutions

The New Year's been rung in; time to get those Resolutions started!
What are you hoping to try this year?

I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions anymore (I forget them so easily!), but I do believe that self-improvement should be an on-going process. One of the things I'd really like to work on this year is organization. Ever since I got a new full-time job over the summer, my surroundings have gotten a bit messier! I also really just need to donate and clean out a lot of stuff. So for my resolution, I want to be better at discerning between things I need/like and things I don't use anymore, and to keep whatever I do have in order. Photo Credit.

I really don't do New Year's Resolutions that often because if I have a goal or something I want to work towards I usually just start working towards it regardless of the time of year! Although I do have a few goals I set myself up for every year (Save more money, Move out) it's okay if it doesn't end up happening in this calender year though because I'm still in school. This year I want to remain healthy, get out of my comfort zone a bit more, try new things, plan a roadtrip for the summer and get another tattoo. I think these are all pretty reasonable and doable goals!

I'm not one for resolutions. Mostly because I don't want to disappoint myself, but every year I try and make some blog related goals. One of my main goals is to do more articles. I always have all these ideas and end up only posting outfits. As a wannabe writer, the more writing I do, the better! Otherwise, I want to focus on getting my wardrobe and bedroom organized. I'd also love to keep up on my reading. Maybe even create an office space for blogging because sometimes blogging on the bed isn't as fun. Like I said, nothing major, just some goals to keep me focused.

This year rather than focus on a goal solely for myself, I really wanted to set the focus on my whole little family - especially now that there are four of us.  Last year I tackled the goal of eating out less and cooking more meals at home...and I definitely want to keep that up, but as for this year, my New Year's resolution is simply this: get outside more!  We live in a lakeside community so I really want to take advantage of more nature walks with the kiddos, more kayaking, more time playing in the lake, more sledding, more ball playing,  and the list goes on.  Even though I can be the biggest homebody at times, I really believe it's important to keep the little guys and myself physically active - so cheers to just that!

I rarely participate in New Year's Resolutions. I have never been particularly good at setting goals for myself, mostly just floating along rolling with whatever opportunities come my way. This year I want to focus on a new business I'm starting up in my hometown and trying to find a way to love my work, instead of hating the job I have. To do that I need to start putting my time and energy into the skills that will be useful for the type of work I want to do-such as studying more about vintage fashion, learning more about photography, and working on my Etsy Shop. I also want to start putting more effort into keeping a home now that we have a house of our own. It's a transition from a grubby little apartment that you don't care about into a home that you can make your own! I guess I'm just realizing now that I'm almost 25 that there are so many things I want to do in life, and it's about time I begin doing some of them.
Those are a few of my goals this year :).

The arbitrary date of January 1st has never really served as enough motivation for me to accomplish my goals, but I'm trying to change that this year.  I'm in the process of finally learning how to drive (crazy, I know, since I turned 25 this year!), and mastering that is one of my main goals for the new year.  I'm also making it a major goal of mine to curb my spending (which is no easy task when you have an addiction to buying pretty new dresses!) and build up my savings again.  Eventually, I need to figure out what I want to do, in terms of moving back to the New York area to pursue my acting career, but my finances need to be in order before I can even think about that!  My other goals are to make a lot of headway on my bedroom makeover, eat healthier, make exercising a priority again, learn my way around my new DSLR, and grow my blog (which is going to take some research on my part)!  I think my overall goal is to challenge myself, but still be kind to myself.  It's a delicate balance, and I usually end up being too extreme on either end.  This year has been a tough one for me, so I am welcoming 2014 with open arms!  :)  (Photo credit)

I love me a good goal. Checking things off of lists? Learning or doing new things? That's my cake and jam. Which is why I started working on a 101 Things to Do in 1001 Days Project back in college (many moons ago!). I'm now on my third set of 101 things; this current project started back in June, when I got married. So really, most of my New Year's Resolutions will revolve just be continuing to check things off of this list. First up though- a better exercise regime and cutting back on eating out! Also- finishing my goal of watching 10 documentaries and reading 10 nonfiction books. What goals are you working towards?

I'm not usually one to set New Years' resolutions. I think it's great that people set goals every new year, but it's just really not my thing. But as we approach 2014, there's one thing I'd like to strive to do more of and that's reading my bible. As a Christian, saved back in 2007, I've been wanting to read through my entire bible. But every time I tried, it seems that life got in the way, and I'd get too far behind to catch up, so I just stopped. I want to change that this year. I have a reading plan that will help me stay on track, all ready for January 1st, and I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait to learn more about Jesus this year.

Since my baby girl is due any day now, my resolutions for this year are centered mostly on maintaining an obviously hectic new life.  I want to be able to dedicate my life to my family but also have some individual outlets (which include my blog).  I also want to focus on budgeting and maybe even couponing so we can be a one income family and I can try the stay at home mom thing.  I can't wait to see what this year is going to bring!

I had originally written a slightly longer entry for this, but apparently my part didn't save so I'll sum it quickly. I'm not one for New Year's resolutions either, but I do have a simple one this year: get a job. I graduate college in May, which means I'll find myself in the real world. I'm not sure where I'll end up in a few months, but I'm still hoping to find something in fashion journalism (or any kind of journalism, really). It's a pretty scary thought knowing that I could potentially be anywhere in the world come May, depending on where I find a job. I'm pretty confident in my experience and my abilities, but that said, if anyone knows of any publications looking for a sarcastic redhead with a heart of gold and who will work for dirt cheap, you know where to find me.
