With Valentine's Day just around the corner, hearts are a-flutter! Here are some items that have got us at Flock Together all twitter-patted, and best of all these are great wardrobe gems whether you're stepping out with somebody special, having a soiree with your best friends or rocking it at home with some good, old-fashion romantic comedies.
I have been obsessed with this red number since first spying it on Modcloth. This is my dream outfit to go along with it too. The long sleeves and narrow skirt of the dress give things a delightfully retro flair, so adding a hat and sixties-inspired coat will keep you warm but fit that retro flair. Subtle details like the more modern booties and the rope bracelet arm party helps keep the outfit from feeling too much of a period costume, and the hearts lining the tights give a tongue-in-cheek nod to the holiday!
I love the the retro-inspired, handmade dresses in 23 Skidoo's Etsy shop, and this number would be perfect for Valentine's Day. I love the scallops, collar, and red + pink + gold color palette, and not only would this be perfect for Valentine's Day, but I would definitely wear it year round!
Coletta Coat, picked by Jen of JennifHsieh
A coat...for Valentine's Day? I know, it doesn't seem all that romantic but I can explain. As usual, Jeremy and I are keeping our Valentine's Day weekend really casual and making it more about us instead of the holiday. This year, we're heading to the Bronx Zoo for a day which is something we've never really done together but both absolutely love. And since it's the middle of the winter, and it doesn't show any signs of leaving anytime soon, a coat seemed appropriate for me. So for all you other love birds who'll be celebrating with friends, family, or a loved one in the great outdoors, here's a beauty for you. I mean, just look at that collar.

Over-the-Knee Heart Socks, picked by Amy of A. Loo's Closet
I've been a big fan of knee-high and over-the-knee socks this season, so when I saw these up for grabs on Urban Outfitters the other day, I knew I just had to have them. I don't own them yet, but I keep hinting at my husband to get them for me as a Valentine's gift. If I had a red, lacy, baby-doll dress, I'd pair these heart-printed beauties with it in a heartbeat.
Let's just get this out of the way: I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day, pink, or heart printed things. I'd rather watch something sci-fi with lots of gore than a romantic comedy. All that said, there's always the occasional item makes me throw all of that out the window. I might have this adorable heart ring coming my way, and I'm pretty much in love with this dress from one of my favorite online shops, Hello Holiday. If I was celebrating this year, you'd better believe that I'd be all over this burgundy dress.
For my picks, I wanted to feature a bit of vintage, and some handmade, and we have some great vintage and handmade sellers within our very group, so I thought why not take a minute to showcase their talents? I picked this Maroon Babydoll Corduroy Dress Floral (from Hannah), & this Rose Quartz Wire Wrapped Necklace (made by Lisa) & these little dainty gloves (from Katie's shop) to accessorize things in a bit of a romantic way. Not that I'll be in anything romantic, if it weren't for the whole blog stuff I think I'd have forgotten about this day altogether this year. With my dear Valentine miles away, you can believe I'll be getting in some good kitty cuddling this year, and probably eating too much ice cream.

Vintage Plaid Cape - Shop Vintage Minnie // Vintage Lavender & Pink Floral 60's Dress - AllyHoot Vintage // Red Bow Beret - Sisters & Stories - Chosen by Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles
As for my Valentine's picks, I wanted to feature a couple of my very favorite vintage & handmade items. For me and my style, the 60s is where it's at. I am head over heels for this red plaid cape I spied a while back and boy oh boy would it keep me warm in the frigid mountain air where I live on a night out celebrating with the hubs. Speaking of cold air - I'm all about hat's these days, so this little handmade bowed-beauty would be perfect for keeping my ears warm. Lastly, this wee lavender & pink floral dress from my shop. The colors remind me of a conversation heart. Isn't it a cutie-pie?
Because Valentine's falls over a youth fine arts competition that I coach a drama team for - I will be spending it rooting my team of youth on as they compete to go to district level. As for me the the Mr., we will be setting a weekend aside to celebrate in Philadelphia later on in the month. I just love weekend getaways to the city - so definitely gives me something to look forward to!
Pink dress from Ruche, conversation heart purse from Aldo and ice cream heels from ModCloth, picked by Sammi of The Soubrette Brunette
For those of you who know my style, it should be no surprise that I chose items that embrace the kitschiness and romance that this holiday encompasses! I've worn romantic, pink dresses for the past two Valentine's Days, and this delicate little petal pink dress caught my eye. I also couldn't resist these costume-y ice cream cone heels and conversation heart bag, since they're perfect for a sweet holiday. I paired them with heart tights (of course), and a sweet flower crown. I figured that aside from Halloween, this would be one holiday where I could get away with looking like a cartoon! :) I'm actually working a 12-hour day on Valentine's Day, but I'm going to a friend's Valentine's Day party the next night, and it'll be the perfect time to wear something slightly kooky and girly.

With Valentine's Day so close at hand, I've found some ravishingly red items from my shop to show you today! They are all lovely vintage pieces that are vibrant and just perfect for dressing up this February.
This Valentine's Day my husband and I are taking the five hour journey to visit my grandparents, so I'm sure we'll have a fun time chatting and playing board games with them on their farm!
