Fireworks

Hello and Happy (almost!) 4th of July to you all!  Sammi from The Soubrette Brunette here!  I've been eagerly waiting to post this swapped dress from Jana, since it works so well for an Independence Day post!  This lovely Bernie Dexter dress has a rocket ship print on it, but I thought to myself that those rockets could very easily be bottle rockets -- and what could be more appropriate for Independence Day than fireworks?
I kept the styling rather simple on this one, since the print is sort of the star.  I thought about adding a petticoat, but decided against it, since the skirt of this particular dress wasn't as full as some of my other Bernie dresses.  I opted instead to go with a wide white belt, red spectator heels and cherry pie ring (because after all, this outfit called for pure Americana!)

I guess in hindsight, the way I wore this wasn't especially creative!  It's such a lovely dress that it seems almost a shame not to wear it in all its glory, but I think this dress would look adorable as separates (either as a top under another skirt, or as a skirt with a sweater layered on top).  How would you wear this lovely Bernie frock?

Have a happy & healthy holiday!

  1. Love how you styled it! I agree, the dress itself is such a statement that overpowering it with accessories / colours almost ruins it! Definitely perfect for July 4th!! :)

  2. You're right- the print speaks for itself and doesn't need a lot of styling. What a fun July 4th look! You ladies all look so cute in it!
