Add a Little Color to Your Life

What I Wore: You Really Dot Me Top  and Knee Socks(Modcloth), Vest (Old), Skirt (Ashley of Southern California Belle),  Necklace (Popbasic), Shoes (Old Navy)

Hey, It's Kristian of Never Fully Dressed (Without a Style) here- Oh, don't mind me. I'll just be having fits of ecstasy in the corner here- over how perfect this skirt is! I'm a sucker for basics, those closet workhorses, and what's more basic and classic than a pencil skirt? This one is made of thick material, skims the hips rather than hugs the thighs, and, to top it off, is magenta. The rich stand-out color might seem to make it less versatile but I think the opposite is true. We need a little color in our lives- especially in the doldrums of February. Plus, a rich, solid color can make the piece of clothing the stand-out part of an outfit, or play the part of a "neutral" once patterns get involved. Too bad this skirt will have to go home to its owner, Ashley of Southern California Belle. But it has definitely inspired me to shop with more purpose and keep an eye out similar, basic pieces.

    1. I saw a store the other day with the tagline "modestly stylish- you'll love what you don't see" and it really got me thinking about these more modest cuts. The color definitely helps keep it a fun piece.

  4. I'm a sucker for a great pencil skirt. That colour is great on you.

That necklace is great too. I think that was the one you felt wasn't too "you" but it does look fab.

    1. That was one of those necklaces from Popbasic I was unsure of, but it is definitely growing on me. Don't you love when you take a sartorial chance and it works out?

      Thanks Suzanne!

  9. So pretty Kristian! I love your color choices here. I simply don't have enough if any pencil skirts in my wardrobe. Perhaps I'll need to reconsider :)
