Here I Go-Go

Modcloth mod 60s shift dress with Seychelles boots and cloche hat by Sweets and Hearts
Erica of Sweets and Hearts

Hello lovelies!

It's been a while since I've posted (I missed you!) and I still have some swaps to share with you. I borrowed this awesome 60's inspired shift dress from Miss Amy. It has the cutest Peter Pan collar, and I love the chunky buttons and pockets.

I wanted to layer a jacket over it, but couldn't figure it out based on what I have in my closet. I felt like my jackets were either too shapeless or too fitted. I ended up just leaving it the way it is, but I played up the 60's-ness with my over-the-knee boots. The hat is a little 1920's, so the whole outfit ended up being a go-go flapper of sorts. Is that a thing?

Amy was extremely creative in her styling. I love how the bright yellow contrasts with the navy. Those fierce cateyes are pretty awesome too.

How would you style it?

Enjoy the rest of your Friday! xx

Girly Skeleton Print Dress

Hello everyone! I'm back for my first swap post here on Flock Together. I was super excited to be able to try out Jessica's skeleton print dress. I love that it's such a feminine shape with its cool, edgy skeleton anatomy print. I decided to play up the girly aspects of the piece with a giant houndstooth hair bow and some pink tights. Even with the feminine additions, this look still reads somewhat edgy simply because of the print on the dress. Another instance of novelty prints making an outfit!

Dress: Modcloth - borrowed from Jessica
Cardigan: Kohl's
Tights: Kmart
Shoes: Steve Madden - Shoe Carnival
Hair Bow: handmade

It's amazing how versatile this dress is. It just goes to show that just about anything in a black and white print can be easily remixed! Check out the other ways we styled the dress below and be sure to click through to see everyone's full post!

Versatility

What do you do when an adorable dress ends up being an awkward length on you? If you're me, you throw a skirt over it and hope that it'll maybe, somehow work. Hi, if you haven't figured it out yet, it's Elana from Room 334 here, and I'm showing you how I styled this plaid perfection of a dress that Sammi let me borrow.

It's no secret that I love wearing dresses as tops. It instantly doubles your wardrobe, and as someone who doesn't buy a ton of tops in general, it helps me make good use of my skirt collection. This bright plaid has such a great vintage vibe to it, that I figured it only made sense to pair it with a vintage skirt and thrifted slingbacks. I added this equally colorful necklace that my friend made as a finishing touch and ended up with pretty fun, classy look if I say so myself. Who knew a statement dress like this could be so versatile?

Of course, no one styles flirty dresses better than Sammi. Her summer look is perfection to me, and I can't get over how well the boater hat pairs it. As usual, I'm envious of everything she wears.

That's it for me today, but stop by my blog for outfit details!

Rad to the Bone

It feels good to be back!  It's been awhile since I've posted on Flock Together and I just couldn't wait to share this swap with Jessica.  The combination of my love for novelty prints and past career in the medical field is probably what attracted me to this dress in the first place.  It's been on my Modcloth wishlist forever so I jumped at the chance to style this dress.  I always feel really inspired by Jessica when I wear her clothes and this interpretation is no different.  She nails that girly grunge look and I love it!

I feel like this outfit is one of Jessica's best looks.  I like the how the length is longer on her and (of course) her hair is amazing.  While I tried to emulate her signature look, nobody can pull it off like her! I can't wait to see how some of the other ladies style this dress through the cooler weather.

Black Cat

Hello, hello and Happiest Halloween!

Marisa here, popping in on the blog today to bring you a another remix of Elana's black cat dress - because, you know cats and Halloween kind of go hand in hand, right?

Anyhow, this kitty-faced frock has certainly made it's way around the group - isn't it true that us bloggers just love anything that has a cat on it?  You bet we do!  So here I am today (with my little man in hand) remixing this piece with one of my bright floral dresses underneath.  I'm a sucker for mixing prints and layering these kinds of dresses, so I kind of just went for it.  Nuff said.  As for Halloween, my wee fam went trick-or-treating last night.  Lots of candy, lots of fun - one big sugar high.  Yep, I'm about to crash -so I'll leave you with just that.

Have one spooktastic day darlings!

Frills and Froth

Erica of Sweets and Hearts

Hellooo! I hope you're all enjoying fall so far. It's actually my favorite season (I'm not a fan of the dry heat we have to endure out here most of the year!) because I enjoy wearing all those cute wool hats, tights, scarves, layers, and just everything else I can't wear during the summer.

Here's an outfit from earlier in the summer, featuring a gorgeous mint green dress borrowed from Hannah. It was actually one of her Stylish Surprise packages from ModCloth (they do these "grab bag" type deals every now and then where you spend $10-15 and receive a surprise item worth $30-$200+). She really lucked out--it's such a beautiful dress which interesting texture on the skirt.

The mint color is bold enough on its own, but I wanted to pair it with an equally saturated color and chose pink. I styled it with my colorful hot air balloon necklace, a pink striped clutch, and white flats (which are nearly invisible, thanks to the grass).

Hannah kept it sweet and simple by pairing it with black strappy heels. I love Ashley's girly take with her pearl headband and pink belt, as well as Jessica's effortless accessorizing with neutral colors. Don't forget to check out their posts for their outfit details (links are under their photos above).
