Group Roundup: Celebrating One Year of Flock Together

Almost exactly one year ago, in October of 2012, Flock Together Style was born. What started as a small idea to collaborate with each other quickly grew into something that we've all become quite passionate about. Over the past year, we've welcomed new members, said goodbye to others, and challenged ourselves to step out of our comfort zones. We've had a great year and we can't thank our readers enough for joining us. We'll do our best to make our next year even better than the first. Who knew that the best friendships started over borrowing each other's clothes? Here are some of our favorite outfits and memories from the past year:

 Elana of Room 334

A little more than a year ago, I wrote something on my blog about wanting to start a clothing swap group with other bloggers for permanent swaps. To my surprise, I soon got an email from Jessica (whose style I loved and still do) asking me if I was interested in helping her start a temporary swap blog (a la Delightful Dozen) with her. From there, we started emailing each other with ideas and other bloggers who we loved, and thus, Flock Together was soon born. I know it's cliche, but I honestly can't explain how much my favorite part of this has been becoming friends with the other girls. It's been so much fun forming this bond with them, and I feel incredibly lucky to be included with them. Not to mention, I'll always feel lucky to get access to all of their gorgeous closets. I had the hardest time narrowing down some of my favorite outfits, but here are a few: Katie's cream dress, Kristian's midi skirt, and Hannah's ruffled dress are definitely up there for my favorite posts.

Dus of Cuddly Cacti

I may have to warn you all that you might be hearing the same thing 15 times over, but seriously getting to know these other, super stylish, but also super fun and sweet ladies has seriously been the best part ever! I honestly would open up my house to any one of them for a vacation, and that's certainly not something I'd say about most bloggers. Getting to know these awesome gals better has been awesome, and of course getting to steal from their closets hasn't been half bad either! It's been super cool having a hand at items I'd never think to purchase myself, and finding unique ways to style items that fit with my style. I've included a little round-up here, which include items borrowed from Jessi, Kristian, Hannah, Elana, Erica, and Jessica.

It's definitely been quite the fun adventure being a part of Flock Together.  I think one of the best things about blogging in general is getting to know other gals with similar interests and I can honestly say the "Flock gals" are some of the sweetest I've gotten to know - even if from far away.  And come one, basically getting to raid another blogger's closet let alone 14 other's is an absolute dream! Swapping and therefore mastering the art of remixing items in my own wardrobe has made getting dressed a million times more exciting.  Though hard to limit it down to just three - some of my favorite swap outfits are the ones that included, Jessie's mint mini,  Jessica's galaxy hi-lo, & Kristian's striped midi which all helped take this gal from the beginning to the end of my pregnancy.

I can't believe I've been swapping with these ladies for so many months already, but I'm so insanely glad that I made the decision to because it has been such an amazing time. Not only does it help me refresh my closet from time to time, instead of throwing cash at the stores in the city, but it's led me to this incredible group of bloggers that are not only beautiful on the outside but beautiful on the inside. Everyone has their own unique style and it's fun to be able to take their styles and put your own spin on it. Then again, there are some pieces you just don't want to give up, like Jessica's striped dress...but the heartbreak of sending those pieces back is always worth it. ;)

It's been said before, but it will be said again- the very best thing about Flock Together, hands down, is the people- both getting to know and become friends with mega-cool bloggers, but also getting to know some of you who follow along with Flock Together (Hi, all of you!). From getting to connect with people, to raiding fantastic closets, to seeing what remixing really can do (one item on multiple people and I am always amazed at these women and their originality)- I am so happy for that email I got last September. Being part of Flock Together has been a been amazing and it at the same time I am both surprised that a year has flown by so fast and at how far we have come too!

Katie of Butterfly Loves Snapdragons

I have had the best time being part of Flock Together this past year! I honestly was so surprised when I was asked to contribute at the start and have been honored to get to know each unique and wonderful lady who is a part. I have found that Flock Together has really helped to challenge and grow my personal style by allowing me to wear pieces I may not have ever tried otherwise. I have better learned how to use inspiration from others to add as a way to make my own look, and I hope that's something our readers have taken away too! I look forward to many more remixes as part of this group and can't wait to see what the other girls will come up with for some of my favorite pieces :)

When I stumbled upon Flock Together, I immediately loved the concept! Not only do I get to invade the closets of some of the most stylish girls in North America, but some of my lesser worn pieces can get a little extra love as well. It's refreshing and inspiring to see how someone else can can add a simple cardigan to your blouse, layer a shirt underneath a dress, or even mix prints a different way. I've had so many Now why didn't I think of that? moments when scrolling through the blog. And I'll admit, it's pretty awesome getting to try some pretty things without having to sacrifice a small fortune. Plus, I've made some new friends in the blogosphere and have even had the pleasure to meet a couple of them in person (and one of them now lives down the street from me!). With a few new fresh faces (and closets to play with) I'm so looking forward to what the next year will bring!

  4. You gals did a great job on this post!! I couldn't figure out how to photoshop multiple photos together (yeah, I'm a terrible blogger) I usually just size them differently but it wasn't working?
This really is such a brilliant concept, I love being able to borrow items from such stylish ladies and you are all always inspiring me to try things in new ways. It's actually helped me decrease my shopping habits!
