What I Wore: Dress (via Jessica; modcloth), necklace (popbasic), tights (Target), Shoes (Old Navy), Bracelet (Kluster Jewelry), Belt (Vintage)

Hello all! Kristian of Never Fully Dressed (Without a Style) here and ready to share with you how I styled this dress from Jessica of Midwest Muse when going out for a night on the town. Such a happy, bright dress deserved lots of fun details to go with it, like colorful accessories, polka dots, and even bows, don't you agree? And such a fancy look also deserved a fancy reason. So we went out dancing.

During the colder months, we are regulars out on Cassie's dance floor (Cassie's being one of the oldest establishments in Cody). It started out as a Madame's house, but in more modern reincarnations is a restaurant and bar. With a hardwood dance floor that is surrounded on all sides-  the live band on one side, and tables for diners on the other three sides- the dancers on the floor are definitely a main attraction. During tourist season, dancers are definitely the entertainment! Heck, even when it is just the locals out, you can still feel a bit like a floor show. Still, nothing is funner than being whirled across the dance floor to a good tune, and as our dance instructors always tell us, don't worry about making a mistake; if anyone is watching it means they aren't up dancing- and only wish they were! So thanks Jessica, for letting me take this dress out to waltz, cha-cha and two-step in. It twirls like a beauty.

Don't miss the many ways this dress has been taken out to spin with the other lovely Flock Together Ladies!

  1. I wish we had charming little dance halls like that in our town! I always love the back history you give on some of the establishments close to you.

This dress is so fun and festive - really the perfect piece to go dancing in. You look gorgeous Kristian!

    1. Well, it is a little charming but mostly it is a cowboy bar (that is, a dive bar only people play country music). I was surprised by how much dancing is around if you know where to look. Most clubs (like the Eagles and the Elks etc) have them. A majority of the people are older but it is still fun to get out and dance.

  2. How fun that you wore it out dancing, and hearing about the little dance joint in your town! I’d love to see you dancing w/ your hubs sometime, it sound so sweet and fun. Also, I love how you wore this top over to make it look like a skirt, just perfect! I can never get that look right w/ a tucked in top over a dress. Did you fold it under somehow?

    1. I do fold it over. Here's how I've heard it described You put the dress on and then tuck the top part under the dress, so that it is lying flat. Then put a belt on under the skirt but over the top part of the dress (like a sandwich of dress and belt). I usually also hear a second belt over the newly formed skirt as well. Strangely the first belt helps to keep everything in place.
