Trade You

Why, hello there. Elana from Room 334 here, and boy do I have a beauty of a dress to show you. Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles kindly lent me this Mata Traders dress, and it somehow it's even more gorgeous in person. I've always been a huge fan of Mata Traders, but sadly have never gotten to own a piece by the brand, so I jumped at the chance to try this one. Between the print, the colors, and the pleated skirt, I'm not sure what part of it captivated me most. All it needed was a cozy cream cardigan and an origami necklace, and I never wanted to take it off.

I took these pictures on my day off last Wednesday for Lincoln's birthday (and you thought going to college in Illinois was a bad idea), and it was a fantastic day. It was slightly warmer than it had been the week before, so taking pictures without a coat was actually pretty bearable. Earlier, my friend Katie and I took another set of pictures in the middle of a country road that same day, and a guy stopped to see if we were okay or having car trouble. It was one of those "man, people in the Midwest sure are nice" moments that I'll never get enough of. Add to that the fact that I spent the rest of the afternoon having a Star Wars marathon with some friends and that this dress instantly put me in a good mood, and yeah, I'd say it was a successful Tuesday.

Marisa actually styled this dress four amazing ways, and here are two of my favorites. She's such a master at mixing colors, and I'm constantly inspired by her. You can see the rest of the ways she styled the dress here.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to stop by my blog and say hi.

  1. I like that you styled it for winter but in the remix section you can see how well it works in spring and summer too.

  3. Wow! This dress looks great on you, Elana! I have this dress's counterpart in gray and just love it to death. I appreciate that you included a closeup of the print - it reminds me of prints from the 20s or 30s.
