Geek Chic...

It's the weekend! Yay! Happy Friday kittens.... I've been waiting for this day all week and I'm so ready to relax and have some fun in the sun. For some reason this week has seemed super long and slow to me... like it would never end. Or maybe it's just because I've felt really sluggish and slow with little to no energy. I guess the sun and heat will do that to a gal.... this weather has been rough, but at least we've gotten a little rain. Let's talk about this awesome sleeveless blouse that I borrowed from Elana of Room 334.

Of course the color was an instant eye catcher for me (I love me some yellow) and the collar was an extra bonus (I also love peter pan collars). I haven't been able to find anything to wear with this thrifted hounds tooth skirt that I've had in my closet for like ever so this was the perfect opportunity for me to show it off. I think they look pretty swell together. I look like a little Professor or Librarian or something... both were possible titles for my post but I settled on Geek Chic because of the faux glasses I'm wearing.

It's funny... I actually used to wear glasses but opted for Lasik about ten years ago. I was a commercial photographer back in the day and always got tired of my glasses clanking on the back of the camera and having to push them back on my nose when I would sweat a little. Now sometimes I find that I miss that option of looking like a cute little geeky girl (which I am at heart). Some people are so against faux glasses, but I think they are adorbs. What do ya'll think?

I'm really happy about these gold druzy earrings that I'm wearing. They look like little gold nuggets
(I wish). I'm also quite happy with my bangs right now... they seem to be growing out nicely and I'm pretty proud of myself for not chopping them off yet. As always, I'm rocking a little bouffant.

I wish everyone a happy weekend! The Mister and I have plans of building an adirondack chair and painting it bright turquoise for our screened in porch. We'll probably partake in a little water activity this weekend as well. Have a good one lovies. Check out how Elana, Katie and Erica style this sweet little blouse below. Tootles.

  1. Oh darling! Love the skirt and glasses. That is so neat you were a commercial photographer. Did you do weddings, portraiture or like tabletop or studio illustration?

    1. Ugh... Portraits of all kinds (mostly babies). I have done about 5 weddings as of now but I'm done. It's way too stressful but all my friends/family keep asking me to do it. I'd rather just attend their weddings as a guest an have a ball but I'm always the one taking the pictures. I decided after this last one I did (for a close dear friend) that that was it. I'm just going to have to turn people down from now on. I did do a bunch of fun food photography and artsy landscapes etc when I was in College. I miss those days.... Whew! That was a long reply. Ha ha.

  2. Yay for being happy with your hair! That's a hard thing. Sometimes it looks great in the mirror and awful in pics and just doesn't make sense. It looks lovely here, though, and I adore that yellow collar 'round your neck! :)

  3. Ah, I hear you...the grass is always greener, right? I am so sick of my glasses right now and am wishing I got Lasik or at least could wear contacts again. But nothing wrong with rocking the faux glasses at all. They are so cute on you!

This is uber adorable. Such a great find in a skirt and love the Elana's yellow top of course!
