Hello, hello and Happiest Halloween!

Marisa here, popping in on the blog today to bring you a another remix of Elana's black cat dress - because, you know cats and Halloween kind of go hand in hand, right?  

Anyhow, this kitty-faced frock has certainly made it's way around the group - isn't it true that us bloggers just love anything that has a cat on it?  You bet we do!  So here I am today (with my little man in hand) remixing this piece with one of my bright floral dresses underneath.  I'm a sucker for mixing prints and layering these kinds of dresses, so I kind of just went for it.  Nuff said.  As for Halloween, my wee fam went trick-or-treating last night.  Lots of candy, lots of fun - one big sugar high.  Yep, I'm about to crash -so I'll leave you with just that.

One Cool Cat

Hey there friends! This is Katie wearing probably the simplest outfit ever- a sweater, skirt, and wedges. But what a sweater it is! As soon as I saw Amy had put this quirky piece up for swap I have wanted to try it out. It is just so fun and adorable! My husband took my outfit photos on this day and he inquired where I got the sweater. When I told him it was a swap item he said, "Oh, that's too bad, it looks like something you would love!" Indeed husband, indeed. (Hint, hint) :) .

Sorry for the appearance of my ankle :/ I bashed it up pretty hard playing tag on the playground with my students. It actually looks better in these photos than it did at first. I am notoriously clumsy though, so this shouldn't come as any surprise. I'm always getting bruised, I guess you can just call me a peach?

I'm enthralled with this photo of Amy, I love everything about it from the pattern mixing, fun textures, and THAT BAG. Ok, I'm done. But seriously. See the full post on Amy's blog here!

Good morning, friends!

I borrowed this darling strawberry-printed blouse from Sammi over the weekend, and while I initially wanted to go with a sweet, vintage look, we had quite the week at our house that changed my tune. After a week of very little sleep and kicking my kids' colds' butts, I felt like breaking out the tough-girl style, and I really like how it turned out.

I love those days where the outfit seems to create itself without any effort at all. This was definitely one of those days and one for the books. I'm sure I'll be reaching for this style many more times this fall.

Hello darlings!

A wee while back on a very humid day, I ventured out for some coffee and thrifting with my boys - which by the way is a normal Friday for us.  Thanks to the lovely Amy Loo, this is the dress I wore.  Of course, as with any 60s mod-inspired frock, I was initially compelled to style it with a pair of white knee-highs and Mary Janes...which would have been totally cute, right?  However as I was chasing two kids around on this horrifically hot afternoon - function (aka leggings and flats) over fashion prevailed and well, a quirky girl outfit was born.  Now grab me my ukelele and the look will be complete.  ;-)

When I was putting on this outfit a couple of weekends ago, my husband looked at me with a cocked eyebrow and asked: "Does that shirt and that dress look okay together?" (What a brave, brave man.) What I really wanted to say was "DUNNO, HONEY PIE; I WAS ABOUT TO ASK YOU THE SAME THING ABOUT YOUR FACE AND YOUR TEETH", but I settled for a solid yes and a polite "shove off my style, son". It didn't really matter to me if it looked good to anyone else because I liked it, so ha-rumph.

All drama aside, I was really happy to be able to have borrowed this dress from Elana; you can really do so many different things with it. And I thought that pairing my cat tee with it was just...wait for it...THE CAT'S MEOW.

Once upon a time

Good morning!  I feel like it's been quite a while since I posted here!  It's Sammi from The Soubrette Brunette, and I'm pleased as punch to be styling Amy's gorgeous rose print dress today.  This dress made me feel as pretty as a princess, and the print paired so well with my little book clutch that it got me thinking about fairytales, and just how many of them involve roses!  Growing up, one of my favorites was the story of Snow-White and Rose-Red (not to be confused with the more popular character of Snow White).  And of course, roses are a big part of Beauty and the Beast.  Briar Rose is the basis for the story of Sleeping Beauty, and though not technically a fairytale, the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland demands that her roses be red.  This dress just seems perfectly suited for a storybook life!

I adore how Amy and I styled this same dress so differently.  While I opted for a fancier evening look, Amy dressed down the dress with the addition of a jean jacket and hat.  I love when seemingly limited dresses turn out to be versatile!  You can see Amy's full post here.  How would you style this beautiful dress?
