Polka + Hearts

Well, hello! Jessi here. Seems like it's been some time since I've posted over here! I'm super happy to be sharing this fun heart print sweater dress with you just in time for Valentine's day :) Something about this outfit just made me so cheery! Maybe it was the darling heart print on Sammi's dress or the over sized polka dots on my scarf, or the contrast of my bright chartreuse leggings against an otherwise neutral look. I had fun playing with black and white here and the opposite patterns were a plus. I think the pop of color in the leggings and lips is what really made it. Do you know what you're wearing for Valentine's day yet? Pink and red? Or something more subtle, but still bold and fun like this? Or maybe you're just staying home in your jammies, which is totally acceptable too ;)
Check out the outfit details on my blog!

Love how Sammi styled her dress as a top with this lovely cream skirt. And how darling is that retro phone purse?! Check out her post here.

Cabernet sauvignon

Hi, everyone!  It's Sammi from The Soubrette Brunette, and today I'm wearing an in-demand swap from the beautiful Jenna of Smitten.  I'd been impatiently waiting for this deep red velvet number (with its gorgeous low back!) to arrive, and I finally got the chance to wear it for a night out at the theatre.  I went to see the touring production of Rock of Ages when it came to Rochester (a college friend was in the cast) and then out for a friend's birthday, so I thought this ensemble would work nicely for the occasion.  It has more of a grunge-bohemian feel than I normally go for, but I really loved this slight deviation from my ultra-girly style.  I even got a chance to wear my Steve Madden combat boots, which often sit in my closet for months on end (even though I love them)!
Outfit Details:
Red velvet dress: swap from Jenna
Boots: Steve Madden (gift)
Belt: from another dress
Quote ring: ModCloth
Hat: Target
Tights: old
I just realized that I'm not the only one who opted for a slouchy hat/boots combination with this dress!  Jessi took a similar approach, and I love her floral print boots with it!  Ashley dressed this number down in a beautiful fashion, too.  I loved Marisa's floral crown and bright peacock feather tights, and of course, Jenna's faux fur collar is divine!
Thanks so much to Jenna for allowing me to wear this luxe little number!  It was the perfect dress for my evening out, and it's ideal for February!  And speaking of February, I just celebrated my 1-year blogiversary over at The Soubrette Brunette, and I'm holding a great big giveaway to celebrate!  You can get all the details and enter to win (prizes include a gift certificate to ModCloth and a bunch of other goodies!) here.  Sorry for the personal plug, and have a terrific Tuesday!  :)

off the record

Hey everyone! It's Lisa from Lala Faux Bois wearing a dress I borrowed from Jenna recently. The black and white pinstripes are hard to see in the pictures, but they give this shirt dress an extra fun punch. My first instinct when wearing black and white is to load on colorful layers. Instead I decided to play with another black and white classic- the polka dot, and just add some color with the socks.

This awesome bag was a gift from my bestie who always finds me such unique, handmade gifts! The top was in a giant bag of clothes I inherited from a friend who recently moved to NYC for design school. Her paring down her closet was a win for me, I'd say ;)

dress: borrowed from Jenna // top: friend hand-me-down // record purse: gift from my bestie // socks: Nordstrom Last Chance // shoes: BC

As always, it's fun to see how the other ladies styled it, and it seems like we've covered all the seasons :) Hope your week is off to a great start!

Oh Deer!

 photo flock3_zps89705c90.jpg
Hello There, it's Jenna posting here today from the great white north! It's especially white in these photos, and might I say taking photos when it's snowing is fairly annoying. My camera kept focusing on the snowflakes, and I end up looking like I have a bad case of dandruff.
I, like most other bloggers, have a very soft spot for animal prints. Not just leopard print, but actually prints of animals, like owls, dogs and Jessi's deer sweater is no exception, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to style this piece. Since it was especially chilly this day it was necessary to layer up, so I belted it over this skirt, popped on my leather jacket and my obnoxiously bright neon scarf for some colour. I have to say I somehow manage to find my neon pieces to be incredibly versatile which is something I never thought I'd say!

Dotty

Hello from the land of bare legs and no jackets! Elana from Room 334 here, showing you how I styled Amy's seriously adorable polka dot skirt. Never one to shy away from a good polka dot (obsess over it is more like it), I could hardly contain my excitement when this skirt arrived in the mail. In fact, I'm fairly certain that my eyes turned into cartoon hearts and bugged out of my face. These things happen.

With its A-line silhouette and perfect fit, it won't come as a surprise that I wore this beauty more than once while it was in my possession. I actually wore it on Christmas a different way, and it turned out to be an especially versatile piece. Like usual, I kept things fairly simple for this look. I'll admit that my love for simplicity sometimes makes me think that I shouldn't have a style blog, but I'm starting to realize that that's just my "thing." For a college student with nowhere special to go, just throwing on a few easy pieces without resorting to sweats  is good enough for me. I'm a creature of habit, so I couldn't resist pairing the skirt with a fun collar and some oxfords.

I seriously could live in this skirt, which I might have done if Amy wasn't so sweet. It makes it difficult to steal things from someone that nice, doesn't it? Something about a conscious or something. It really gets in the way of things sometimes.

Amy // Jessi

I don't think it's possible for Amy or Jessi to look bad in anything, so they obviously both look fantastic in this skirt. Amy's red and Jessi's gold are perfect complements to this skirt.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to head over to my blog and say hello there as well!

Velveteen Dreams

Hi there!  It's Ashley of Southern (California) Belle and I just wanted to take a moment and talk about this wonderful velvet dress.  I saw it on Jenna's blog last year and I knew I wanted something similar.  Unfortunately, I hadn't done much shopping over the year so I did the next best thing: borrow it from her.  It really is the perfect winter staple and the low back was an added bonus.  I actually had to wear it a few times, it was so much fun to dress it up and down.

Dress- swap with Jenna
Tights- Forever 21
Shoes- Target
Belt- Forever 21

I decided to pair it with small pink accessories and some booties.  At this point heels just weren't an option.  These booties seem to go with everything and I really liked how comfortable this outfit was.

I love Jenna's girl's night out look with the fur stole and heels.  Marisa always adds her signature look with a gorgeous headpiece.  Jessi went a little grunge with her super cute floral combat boots.  It's always fun to see the girls add their little touches.  To see their complete looks just click on their pictures above :)
I know this dress still has to make it's way to a couple more of the girls.  I can't wait to see more looks with this gorgeous piece!
xoxo
