Somewhere

Erica of Sweets and Hearts

Watching The Wizard of Oz over and over again happens to be one of my fondest childhood memories. I would skip around with a stuffed dog in a basket when I was a kid and sing along to all of the songs whenever it was on. I even dressed up like Dorothy for Halloween a couple of times (uhh one of those times was in high school...shh). I love it that much.

I didn't even know Knitted Dove designed a Wizard of Oz inspired collection, so color me surprised when I saw this magical dress from Marisa! If you take a closer look, the skirt's print depicts a little outdoor farm scene with windmills and cats.

Ashley of Southern California Belle
Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles

These girls look straight out of a fairytale.

Ashley looked like a princess when she paired it with a full petticoat and blue heels for Halloween, while Marisa channeled Dorothy with a vintage picnic basket and red accessories.

Happy Monday, everyone! Have a great rest of the week.

Beat of My Heart

Erica of Sweets and Hearts

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I wanted to share a few of my favorite outfits featuring the ultimate romantic and girly symbol of all time: the heart. (Original outfit post for photo above can be found here)

When I was re-visiting my old outfit photos for this post, I didn't realize how many heart items I'd collected over the years; everything from vintage earrings and headbands, to embroidered tights and playful dresses. If it has a heart on it or is shaped like a heart, I'm probably going to buy it (including the Post-Its, tiny foam stickers, and measuring spoons. No, really).

I mean, I like hearts so much, it's even in my blog name.

A cute heart design can instantly add joy and a bit of whimsy to almost any outfit--and not just on Valentine's Day. Here are just a handful of heart themed items and outfits I've worn:

3. Blue and red printed dress (original post)
4. Black coat with heart elbow patches and a printed dress borrowed from Marisa (original post)
5. Purple Vivienne Westwood x Melissa heels (original post)

How do you wear hearts?

Good in Green

 photo flock_zps84ec2ad3.jpg
Good Morning!! It's Jenna from Smitten blogging here again :) and yet again bringing you something from Hannah's fantastic wardrobe. It's so great to get to borrow from so many stylish ladies. It helps me when I feel a lack of inspiration in my wardrobe as I have been lately to try things out without having to purchase new pieces.
I knew this long sleeve green would be absolutely perfect for fall when I laid my eyes on it. The material is great for the nip that's started to develop first thing in the morning and late at night here. It's so crazy how the weather shifts here as soon as it hits September. My leather jacket was the perfect piece to throw on top

Ocean’s Daughter on Shore

Crop Top c/o Chicnova (similar)
Mint Skirt borrowed from Ashley (similar)
Aldo Wedge Booties (similar)
Black Shoulder Bag c/o Sammydress
Bracelets via My Boyfriend
Urban Outfitters & Forever 21 Rings

This skirt makes me feel like a mermaid due to the mesh-like material and the mint shade of the fabric. When I was younger I used to dream of being Ariel from The Little Mermaid - not just because she was beautiful, but because of the way her hair flowed underwater. Tell me you've never watched your hair underwater and wish that it flowed the same way when it was dry.

The Romantics

 photo elf2_zps068e4699.jpg
Hey There my dears!! It's Jenna from Smitten blogging here, wearing this absolutely amazing dress from Erica. I was absolutely delighted to come home from work a few days ago to two packages from my flock together girls. It's like Christmas in July!
This dress is so gorgeous and feminine, I love the mint colour and chiffon material. It's such a pretty dress, and I really enjoyed wearing it. Usually with pieces that are super girly I try to contrast it with some something more masculine or edgy but with this piece I paired it with a few simple accessories and my floral headcrown. I felt like a fairy, my dad actually told me I looked like an elf, so it worked!

A Modern Day Polka Dotted Barbie

Love Culture Peplum Top (similar)
Polka Dot Skirt swapped with Ashley
Reaction Kenneth Cole Wedges (similar)

My co-worker Haley, who took these pictures, mentioned that I looked like a vintage barbie doll when I first bumped into her at the office. Looking at these pictures, I can see what she means, especially with the full skirt going almost down to my ankles. It's times like this when I wish I had longer legs. It's either above the knee or maxi skirts for me - midi skirts just create the illusion of looking like a midget.

But besides my short leg dilemma, I fell in love with Ashley's skirt. This skirt has been around the block with the Flock Together ladies and I adore how each and every one of them styled it. Ashley's original look is still my favorite, which makes me wish I tried it out with a crop top. How would you guys style it up?

Lavender Dreams and Crisp Blazers

American Apparel Lavender Lace Dress borrowed from Hannah (similar)
Love Culture White Blazer (similar)
Urban Outfitter Grey Wedges (similar)
Mint Necklace c/o Lulu*s (similar)

For the most part, I stick to very casual outfits, so I thought it would be a nice change of pace to be just a little bit classy for once. To me, just throwing on a crisp blazer makes any outfit classy. That might just be because I don't wear blazers very often unless I'm attending a business formal event.

Walking around the city, I see so many people wearing full suits, blazers, nice blouses, and heels to the office. Just seeing them walking around in the summer heat makes me to follow them around with a giant fan and cool them off. I remember, graduating college, one of my main requirements for a job was not having to be in business formal every single day. I still don't know how all of my friends do it. That means having a whole other wardrobe just for work. Woof.

How do you guys dress up for work?

Check out how some of the other ladies styled up this beautiful dress!

You're at War with Love

The weather this past week has been absolutely amazing in the city and I've been taking advantage of it by wearing plenty of dresses and skirts. But now that Friday has finally arrived, we're ending the week with plenty of rainfall and cloudy skies. I guess you can't expect Mother Nature to be full of sunshine and happiness all the time, right? Everyone has their mood swings.

I'm insanely obsessed with Hannah's Romwe dress that I got to borrow this week. Sending it back is going to be heart breaking but I'm getting used to it after borrowing from so many of these lovely ladies. Their closets are incredible, let me tell you. I felt pretty classy in this number so I decided to keep the theme going with some basic heels and a cardigan.
