The Traveling Fox

Marisa of The Shades of Monet Chronicles
Hello there :)

It's been a wee bit, but I'm back with today serving up part remix part swap and as always, plenty of color.  This little fox number of mine surely has traveled up and down the coast and across the country making it's way to many of the gals here at Flock Together.  Though I'll be forever drawn to quirky-cute critter-ridden pieces like this, it's often that I think that they are not super versatile - this one especially with it's smack-you-in-the-face bright 80s inspired teal/magenta color scheme.

Looks like I've been proven wrong though.  It's always kind of blows my mind when I see how the gals remix one piece so many different ways from one person to the next.  Talk about new options.

As for me, this time around (which was back in the fall, btw), I paired it with Taylor's black accordion skirt.  Being that I was cooped in a car traveling to Philly for the weekend, I was in the mood for something fairly simple and uber comfortable.  After all, long car rides always call for loose fitting pieces and minimal layers in my book.

Check how all these Flock Together gals past and present (including myself) remixed this piece:

Prints Charming

Hi guys, it's been awhile! It's Hannah from The Braided Bandit and I am so excited to show you guys how I remixed two of Sammi's beautiful novelty print dresses.

The first dress I borrowed is this little buttercup yellow number with an amazing vintage car and record print.  I really like how we both decided to use red as an accent color for the dress, I didn't realize it until after I was editing these photos!

The second dress I borrowed from Sammi is literally my dream dress.  Let's just say I am still trolling the internet trying to find it on sale somewhere!  Sammi styled hers with cute white accents for Mothers Day, and I decided to go a bit pastel crazy wearing it with a cotton candy colored wig!

Anyway, its needless to say that having access to this sweet gals closet is truly a treat!  I definitely need to step up my closet's novelty print game now.  Thanks so much to Sammi for letting me raid her closet yet again!  Do you guys have any favorite novelty print pieces you own?  If you posted in them, leave a link in the comments, I would love to see!

Fun with Fire Hydrants...

Morning all! Jana here, from small town, BIG SMILE! remixing the sweetest dress from Marisa.  I hadn't looked at how Sammi styled it before I styled it, and funnily enough, we both opted to pull from the mint green accent in the dress! I decided to do some pattern-on-pattern with a polka dot cardigan.  I absolutely adored this dress, and returning it took a lot of willpower. I definitely would have had a lot of fun styling this various ways... but I did manage to style it twice in the time that I had it.

I was lucky enough to have some great weather while I had this dress, so tights weren't a necessity.  I would definitely love to style it in the cooler months though. With so many colours in the dress (red, green, yellow) it would be fun to style with added layers!

Smiles,

Jana

My Favorite Striped Outfits

Hi there!  It's Ashley of Southern (California) Belle and I wanted to show off my love for stripes.  I'm fond of all prints actually, but I feel that stripes are so versatile.  So I opened up my archives and I posted some of my favorites.

Spring Awakening

Hello! Hannah from The Braided Bandit here and I am excited to say that we are all feeling more refreshed and will be continuing a fresh round of swaps and remixes here on the Flock Together blog!  I thought I would start it off with an ode to spring with this beautiful dress I was lucky enough to borrow from the lovely Marisa.  I love the little yellow floral print and the fun pleated skirt, and I can't tell you how much of a treat it was to go outside with bare legs!

When looking back to see how Marisa styles her dress, I was so excited to see that she had actually styled it four different ways, each super cute and unique!  I think my personal favorite has to be her second look with the turquoise jacket and mustard tights!  You can see her full post here.

Has it been warm enough to go outside without layers and tights where you live yet?  I am looking forward to bright pops of color, more floral dresses, and fun outdoor adventures!  See you soon!

A Little Red Dress

There's something so amazing about a little red dress, that really sets it apart from any other piece in a wardrobe. Not only is it an incredibly sexy colour but it happens to be a fantastic campaign started by the Heart and Stroke foundation to raise awareness for cardiovascular disease in women! A very worthy cause and perfect to coincide with Valentines Day tomorrow where we're thinking about matters of the heart ;)
I decided to do a little remix of all my favourite LRD's. While they are stunning on their own and can really make a statement it's such an easy shade to mix up for more casual occasions. A red dress can be sexy, simple and very badass when accessorized the right way, and it is my personal belief that every girl needs a LRD in their closet :)

Like a princess

I found this skirt at a thrift store a few years ago. I was enamored by the accordion pleat and sheer flow to it. I never imagined that it would be such a versatile piece for myself or for my friends. This skirt is perfect for the spring and summer. Even better as a dress too! I'm sick of the cold and so, I'm lookin' at photos of warmer days and I think this did the trick.

I think Erica's rendition is my absolute favorite and I wish I could fly out to California and mimic it right now!

A Glittery Remix

Hello, everyone! Amy, here, bringing you a little something different today.

To be honest, I was stuck on a post for today, because while I have a couple of swapped items on their way to me, I currently have zero in my possession! So I figured I'd share a remix of my all-time favorite shoes, my beloved Late Night Glitter heels by Seychelles Footwear.

I really wear these way more than a stay-at-home mom should (you should see some of the baffled looks I get), but their glittery goodness is just something I can't say no to. I bought them as a special treat with birthday money last year, knowing that they probably wouldn't go with too much in my closet. But I'm thrilled to say that I've been pleasantly surprised with how many outfits they've easily graced.

Be my guest, and have a look!

January 2014

I'm really surprised they didn't make it into any of my outfit posts in November and December because I wore those puppies. Most recently, I wore them to a friend's wedding and got to take them (and my husband) for a little first-time spin on the dance floor. (Disco ball not included for obvious reasons.)

So how about you? Would you wear a sweet pair of glittery kicks like these?
