Ten for Ten; It's a Strike!

What I Wore: Bowling Shoes (Sunset Bowling Rentals!), Tights (old), Skirt (Pin-up Girl Clothing), Shirt (Jessi of Haircut and General Attitude), Pearls (My Grandmother)

Anyone else think it is funny how a strike is a good thing in bowling and has a completely different semantic for just about everything else? No? Just me? Alright then.

This is Kristian of Never Fully Dressed, and when I saw Jessi of Haircut and General Attitude's shirt, I thought- it looks like a good shirt to bowl in. A certain retro vibe maybe, who knows, but it was a silly thought anyway. Even if bowling shoes are kind of fun looking. Who'd take photos bowling? It is way too dark inside!

Who indeed? It was time to take the blog(s) on a field trip (er, even more of a field trip than usual, I mean, since you may have noticed NFD often has shots of the great outdoors). The Boy was very paitence and willing to get out a camera in front of who-knows-who-all and snap my photo. The photos turned out better than our bowling scores (Did either of us even crack 100 points?), but the improtu-date/photo session turned out to be great fun. And look! There was even a pink bowling ball for girly me.

White Out

Hey, Jessi here!
I couldn't wait to get my hands on Hannah's lovely vintage polka-dotted dress! Especially after seeing how cute everyone styled it! I feel like there are a million and one ways to wear this pretty dress but I decided to try dressing it down  a bit. I went for a casual look with flirty details like lace trimmed socks, a fun necklace and studded bows on my favorite rain boots.
I didn't realize when I put this together, but besides my usual touch of red on the lips and the pink on my necklace, I'm wearing all neutrals! Kind of strange for a girl who loves color so much, but I really love the soft feel it gave to this outfit. (Maybe I took some inspiration from my snow-covered world? I almost blend right in!)
 Outfit Details:
Dress - Vintage, Hannah's
Chambray top & Socks - H&M
Necklace - Forever 21
Earrings - J. Crew
Rain boots - ModCloth

And here's how my lovely ladies wore it!
It's awesome how all 4 seasons seem to be represented here! Summer for Hannah with her gorgeous floral crown, Dus looks like a bright Spring day with that floral skirt, Rachel is channeling fall with her lovely cardi and tights and Ashley looks Winter-ready in her pretty red coat.

A Detailed Basic

Hello Friends! It's Katie from Butterfly Loves Snapdragons. I am so excited to be posting today because it's my birthday! I'm turning the big 24 :) What a nice time to receive pretty dresses in the mail to style up just for YOU! Really being part of this group feels like every day is my birthday, haha.

I fell in love with this frock when I first saw the ever lovely Elana wear it on her blog. It had the most enchanting details and was one of my very favorite colors.
I styled it with simple pieces, but even pairing simple items together can become engaging. Adding a few colors and textures creates depth and interest, which is something I strive for when getting dressed in the morning.

I love that this dress has so many layers. It moves and flows so wonderfully and the beading is simply FUN! It's nice to have items in your wardrobe that could work for special occasions, but also for everyday. I ran a few errands in this ensemble and felt fun and casual. I could also see this dress with a great pair of heels and a cute jacket though for a night out! Oh, the possibilities :)

Here's how Elana styled her dress! She and I look so different in the dress it's hard to tell that it's the same garment. I love how she let the color of the dress shine with her pairing of black pieces. Striking and beautiful!

 See the full post here!

This dress is wanted by many more of the girls, so you'll probably be seeing a lot of it in the coming weeks.  Do you have a garment that is full of fun details, but can also be a basic? Please, do share!

Have a lovely Monday dear readers :)
God Bless!

Of Navy & Polka Dots

polkaash1

I absolutely loved this dress and like most of these clothes, I don't want to give them back! I took these pictures when it was still warmer out and I'd love to style this dress in the colder months too! We all seemed to style the dress pretty basically as the dress is just so perfect on its on. The necklace I am wearing I have never worn before! It was hand crafted by a local jewelry designer. I wish I would've taken an up close of it. It's not exactly an easy piece to wear.

Simply Sweet

Hi there!  It's Ashley of Southern (California) Belle again showing you a remix of a gorgeous purple dress.  Katherine, the talented blogger behind Of Corgis and Cocktails, is definitely one of my favorite reads.  Not only does she have a spectacular wardrobe filled with envy-worthy dresses, she can take amazing pictures, cook like nobody's business, and mix a mean drink.  I'm always inspired by her blog and love being able to show my take on her pieces.  Unfortunately, this will be the last time I get to swap with Katherine.  Being the busy woman she is, she had to step down from Flock Together.  I'm going to miss her (and her amazing wardrobe)!

This dress is actually perfect for summer but can be easily layered for winter.
I love adding prints to to solid pieces, not only because I think it makes it more dimentional, but because I'm not the biggest accessories person.

Here is Katherine's take on her dress:

I love her sumer vibe and her yellow and gold accents.  Laker colors!

It just goes to show that you can take many "summer" pieces from your wardrobe and layer them up for the colder seasons.  It's all about getting the most from your wardrobe!

Add a Little Color to Your Life

What I Wore: You Really Dot Me Top  and Knee Socks(Modcloth), Vest (Old), Skirt (Ashley of Southern California Belle),  Necklace (Popbasic), Shoes (Old Navy)

Hey, It's Kristian of Never Fully Dressed (Without a Style) here- Oh, don't mind me. I'll just be having fits of ecstasy in the corner here- over how perfect this skirt is! I'm a sucker for basics, those closet workhorses, and what's more basic and classic than a pencil skirt? This one is made of thick material, skims the hips rather than hugs the thighs, and, to top it off, is magenta. The rich stand-out color might seem to make it less versatile but I think the opposite is true. We need a little color in our lives- especially in the doldrums of February. Plus, a rich, solid color can make the piece of clothing the stand-out part of an outfit, or play the part of a "neutral" once patterns get involved. Too bad this skirt will have to go home to its owner, Ashley of Southern California Belle. But it has definitely inspired me to shop with more purpose and keep an eye out similar, basic pieces.

P.S. Keep up to date with all of Flock Together's lovely ladies by liking us on Facebook and following along on Twitter!

Winter Sherbet

Oh hello,

Marisa here today.  As you can probably see, I'm forever inclined to wear pastels in the winter though there is probably some rule out there telling me not too.  I'm also inclined to eat things like gelato and sorbet when it's negative degrees outside.  And though my arms get cold in February air, I never really care when I am enjoying something icy and delicious.

I guess what I'm saying, is when Jessi sent this sweet little mint skirt over way, I just couldn't help but create some kind of sherbety concoction of an outfit to pay tribute to my love for the sweet and icy.

I loved this wee number so much that I remixed it several different ways -

Who knew a mint skirt could be so versatile this time of year?!

And this is how the gorgeous Jessi styled it for the summer months
I am smitten with that floral blouse and those little blue shoes of hers!

Have one fine Monday darlings!
Love bunches,

Swan Song

Hello, there! It's Elana from Room 334 here, wearing Katie's absolutely wonderful swan print cardigan. Ever since I first saw Katie don this sweater on her blog, it was love at first sight. Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows that I have a...minor obsession with cardigans. So minor that most of my outfits include one from my growing collection. I can safely say, though, that none my cardigans lives up to the beauty of this one. Don't you see those swans? The perfect navy color? It's just too good.

I actually took some inspiration from Katie when putting this look together. I just got this yellow top back after it made its way to a few of the girls, so I couldn't wait to wear it again. I loved how Katie layered it under a dress when she borrowed it so I couldn't help but steal the idea, even if it did mean covering up an equally cute peter pan collar.

It's no surprise that both Katie and Marisa looked equally amazing in it. I love how they both added red details, it complements the cardigan so well.

And as usual, outfit details are my blog, updates are on our Facebook, and even more are on our Twitter!
