Emerald Forest

4 3 (1) DSCN0099 DSCN0083 2 (1) DSCN0097 DSCN0093 DSCN0040.5 2 (2)
I'm certainly not the only Flock Together gal swooning over this emerald dress of Elana's; it may in fact be our most-swapped item to date, although I've never counted. While the dress is beautiful as-is and I could easily have dressed it up for the office, as soon as I asked to borrow it I knew I wanted to grunge it up a tad with combat boots (which was Hannah's idea as well, great minds think alike ; ).

It all went downhill from the boots into a total bohemian look. While I normally would've opted for this fall-hued woven belt (seen in this post), I've been trying to embrace neutrals more and opted for this one instead. Next of course came a big floppy hat, and a vintage necklace my granny recently mailed me fit the color palette perfectly. Honestly, the idea of a color palette is not something I thought of when getting dressed until quite recently. I don't know what it was, but I've become more aware of it lately and am gravitating toward a more limited color palette with outfits than I used to go for.

And now for a little blogger disclosure: I sure did not wear this around camping; we went for a long hike by the lake (seen here) so a swimsuit was a must. But, I knew the pine trees would make for the perfect backdrop for Elana's beautiful dress.

Outfit details: Dress: swap from ElanaNecklace: Vintage, from Granny; Justin Boots: Vintage, Ebay; Felt Hat: Thrifted; Bracelet: Handmade in Oaxaca; Woven belt: Handmade, my shop here.

And here's how some beautiful gals have worn it:

Thanks Elana for loaning so many of us your beautiful little dress. And to everyone, I hope you enjoyed a wonderful labor day with some nice R&R! I'd love if you popped on over to my little blog and told me about your labor day.

Taking Heart

Happy Friday everyone!

Marisa here today with a swap that has me black, white, and hearted all over.  One thing I wish I had more of in my wardrobe is little vintage printed blouses like this heart one from Leah.  They are so darn cute and easy to layer, that with Autumn being just around the corner, I must thrift myself some more of these beauties.  Anyhow, I kind of just loved how the heart print looked against the floral embroideries on my little vintage babydoll dress that I knew it was some kind of match made in heaven.

I must note - I am indeed wearing some pretty short shorts underneath this dress as my then pregnant belly made it micro mini length on me - cause you know, I am just not cool with bearing my skivvies to the world.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Blouse: Swap via Leah
Dress, Bag, Brooch: Vintage
Bracelet: gift from Dus (for sale in her shop here)
Hat: Target
Shoes: Vintage (for sale in my shop here)

How Leah wore it: (I LOVE her mix of prints, don't you?)

One more silly thing: see that cyclist in the background?  Well, he just kind of zoomed by out of nowhere and as he passed he shot a glance my way and said, "You're looking good!".  Eeps Though I wanted to crawl under the nearest rock... I just had to laugh.

Cheers to plenty of laughter and one awesome weekend!

Love Bunches,

Red, Green & Blue

 photo IMG_9927_zps070d487a.jpg

Hey y'all! It's Leah from We Live Upstairs here, styling Elana's beautiful August Wrinkle dress. Annnnd I realize that this dress is being posted two days in a row, but it's what I had to work with, so please forgive me : )

Unfortunately, this was another one of those dresses that I was incredibly excited to receive in the mail, but didn't necessarily do me justice once on. However, after opening the package, I immediately thought of pairing the dress with blue and red-orange...and I ended up loving the color combination so much that I stuck with it anyway! I realize it goes against almost all "find the right ____ for your body type" advice, but sometimes, you just have to wear it if it feels right.

Check out how some of the other Flock Together ladies styled this baby:

I love how Katie remixed the dress for Winter, and I think Elana's tomboy flair with the boots is quite smart.

That's it for me, ladies! Thanks for letting me share!

How I Wear It: Stripes

Hey everyone! Leah from We Live Upstairs here. Well...I did it! I married my best friend a week ago today, and I've finally had some time to breathe-if for only a second. Now I have the task of preparing to move 13 hours away in about a week and a half. It's fine- I don't like sleep anyway.

I thought I'd take a minute from the hustle and bustle to talk about stripes. I love them, you love them, but what do we wear with them? If you're judging by my outfits alone, the answer is pretty much anything. Proof:

 photo IMG_0990.jpg

Thick stripes with nudes.

IMG_7744 photo IMG_7744-1.jpg

Paired with plaid in the same palette.

 photo IMG_7778.jpg

With dots in a similar palette (you see a trend here?).

 photo IMG_7532.jpg

With sparkly skater skirts.

 photo IMG_7072.jpg

With tribal, half body-con, half shift dresses.

 photo IMG_6886.jpg

With crazy floral/paisley, backless dresses that need another layer in the winter.

See? Anything. Don't worry, all of these are from the last year, and I'm already regretting plenty of them (looking at you, Crayola tights). It's the "let's look through my 5th grade diary as a 16 year old and have a cringe-fest" feeling. My style may be changing (minimalism is my friend right now) but I can confidently say that I will always have too many striped things in my closet. Do you have another patterned staple in your closet? How do you wear it?

Thanks for letting me share, guys! And because I'm re-dic excited about it, I thought I'd mention that my wedding photos should be ready next week, so come say hi if you'd like to see them! Til next time!

Confetti Dreams

 photo flocking2_zpsb14507c2.jpg
Hey There Darlings! It's Jenna from Smitten blogging here today. I gotta say I was smitten when i received this dress (punny, I know) I was having one of those days where I hated everything in my closet then I got this little number in the mail and was so excited to wear it. I love the cut outs on the side, but it's the print that really got me happy. It's like confetti with every colour of the rainbow in there!!
I styled it twice, once with my studded denim vest that is the perfect thing to toughen any look up with. It's great because it was hot out, it's so easy to layer with a great summer dress like this one! Mr.Duke really wanted to take part in the photos so he could say Hello to all the flock together followers!! I also styled this dress with my favourite crop top, super lacy, girly and with a floral head crown. You can see that post here
